State Advertising Policy
Recent advertisements from mortgage entities licensed by the State of Montana have not always included the appropriate license numbers. Section 32-9-121, MCA requires a licensee or licensed entity to disclose in any printed, published, televised, email or internet advertisement for the provision of services the name and address of the licensee and the number designated on the license issued to the licensee or licensed entity by the Division of Banking and Financial Institutions.

New MCA for Licensing, Laws and Regulations
HELENA, MONTANA: Annie Goodwin, Commissioner of the Montana Division of Banking and Financial Institutions, announced that the Montana Legislature passed a law, which requires the licensing of mortgage bankers. The law amends the Montana Mortgage Broker and Loan Originator Licensing Act. On April 20, 2005, Governor Brian Schweitzer signed Senate Bill 274 into law requiring mortgage bankers providing mortgage broker services to obtain licensure with the Montana Division of Banking and Financial Institutions of the Department of Administration.
